David says farewell after 50 years in the motor trade with us

Mr David Toth has been with us for 50 years. Starting as an Apprentice Mechanic in 1966, he has been through nearly all the roles within the business - finishing off has handling Warranty

In those days the site at Keele Road, Newcastle, was occupied by the Eastwood dealership which sold a variety of makes including Fiat, Simca and Wartburg as well as three-wheelers such as Bond, Reliant, Trojan and even Messerschmitt before being taken over by BS Marson where he has worked ever since.

"A friend had one too and we both drove over to Italy and back. It was our version of The Italian Job!"

His favourite car to work on was a Ferrari Dino from the 1970s and the favourite he has owned was one of the original Minis: "A friend had one too and we both drove over to Italy and back. It was our version of The Italian Job!"

Now he is looking at spending his time in rather more peaceful surroundings as Linda has bought him a new greenhouse as a retirement present.

John Marson, managing director, said: "It is remarkable that David has spent his entire working life at this site, first with Eastwood and then with us.He has been a pillar of the company and we all wish him and Linda the very best for the future."
