What information do we collect about you?

We collect information about you when you place an order with us for products or services. We also collect information when you voluntarily opt in for marketing preferences, complete customer surveys, provide feedback and participate in competitions. We may collect personal identification information from users in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, when users visit our showroom, vehicle sales, parts sales, service and aftersales, on our web site, register on the site, subscribe to the newsletter, fill out a form, and in connection with other activities, services, features or resources we make available.

In order to fulfil any sale we will ask for, and collect, information relating to your name, email address, mailing address, phone number and card information where appropriate (any payment information the user provides will be securely stored). If finance is required 3 years address history and 3 years employment history as well as D/O/B is also required. Customers may, however, visit our showroom and web site anonymously and we will collect personal identification information from users only if they voluntarily submit such information to us. Users can always refuse to supply personally identification information, except that it may prevent them from engaging in certain activities.

How will we use the information about you?

We collect information about you to process your order, and if you agree, to send you email, postal, phone and SMS marketing preferences to you about other products / services we think may be of interest to you, as well as safety related aftersales reminders. In processing your order, if finance is required we may send your details to, and also use information, from finance companies who will in turn contact credit reference agencies and fraud prevention agencies.

When applying for credit, we will send your finance details to “FCA UK” for finance, if finance fails at this point we will then select from our list of finance providers the best company for you to gain credit from. For more info of their privacy policy please write to us at the address below.

We also use our affiliate partner for the purpose of vehicle repairs and marketing thereof relevant to your vehicle. We do not use this data outside of BS Marson or AutoVHC. If you would like to view the Privacy Policy for AutoVHC, please contact the Data Protection Officer.

Data retention period

We are required under UK tax law to keep your basic personal data (name, address, contact details) for a minimum of 6 years. Under legitimate interests, we have the right to keep your details on record for our service and guarantee policies. Your personal information we use for marketing purposes will be kept until you notify us that you no longer wish to receive this information (This must be done in writing to our address, or emailed to Jason@bsmarson.com)

We use cookies to collect and keep track of non-personal identification information about users whenever they interact with our site, so that we might further improve and tailor our store to the users shopping preferences. Non-personal identification information may include the browser name, the type of computer and technical information about the user’s means of connection to our site, such as the operating system and the Internet service provider utilised and other similar information.

BS Marson may collect and use user’s personal information for the following purposes;

to improve customer service (information you provide will help us respond to your customer service requests and support needs more efficiently);

If at any time the user would like to unsubscribe from receiving future e-mails, we include the unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of each e-mail. User may also contact the site to be removed from our mailing list.

We use a third-party provider, MailChimp, to deliver our email newsletter. When someone visits www.bsmarson.co.uk we use a third-party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.

Our website contains links to other websites. This privacy policy only applies to this website so when you link to other websites you should read their own privacy policies.

We do not sell, trade, or rent users personal identification information to others. We may share generic aggregated demographic information not linked to any personal identification information regarding visitors and users with our business partners, trusted affiliates and advertisers for the purposes outlined above.
