It was way back in 1943 when the name BS Marson first went up in North Staffordshire.
Fast forward 80 years and the family-run business is now the UK's oldest established Fiat dealership, known throughout the county and beyond.
Based on Keele Road in Newcastle - where it has been since 1959 - the garage offers a wide range of both new and used cars.
Knowledgeable and experienced staff are on hand to guide customers and help make sure they get the car that's just right for them - whether a Fiat or another brand.
The fascinating history of the business is charted back to 1943 when it started as an agricultural business founded by Stanley Marson.
By 1952 it boasted a body shop and preparation centre in Ashley. A landmark move came seven years later when Stanley, Ann and John Marson started retailing new and used vehicles from the Deansgate Garage on Keele Road.
At the time it sold cars from manufacturers including Renault, Singer, Bond and Waterburg cars.
The success of the business continued and in 1969 - ten years later - Deansgate Garage was set up next to the Renault showroom.
Taking over what was Eastwood Garage, it specialised in Fiat, Simca, and BSA motorbikes along with Bond three-wheelers.
There was no putting the brakes on this rapidly growing business and in 1979 a dedicated Renault garage was launched in Wolstanton and was run by Peter Marson.
While the Marson name was, and is, well-known among car enthusiasts an arguably bigger name was brought in with racing legend Jackie Stewart helping cut the ribbon, as part of the grand opening in Wolstanton.
By 1995, the firm took on the Kia brand at its Keele Road location until 2017.
National recognition followed and in 2002 the business won the title of the UK's best dealership amongst many other awards including aftersales dealer of distinction, outstanding achievement and award for excellent customer service from Fiat top 10 dealers.
BS Marson & Sons continues to provide excellent service and dedication despite changing automotive trends and technology.
Now in its third generation, the aim to provide amazing customer service is stronger than ever.
The team are knowledgeable and well-versed in the trade but it is their honesty and dedication that make the family-owned business just as loved today as it was when it made those tentative steps back in 1943.
